BUFMC hosts events that test students’ Excel knowledge, as well as teach them more advanced financial topics. The combination of challenging students’ skills and building their network will ultimately help members of the club cultivate their career path.
Annual Excel Case Conference
At our annual case conference, students compete and solve real world cases. This event tests your excel skills and is highly recommended for those interested in industries such as investment banking, investment management, and consulting. However, no prior experience is necessary to join! You also have the opportunity to hear from and network with industry professionals from companies, such as Acadian Asset Management, Deloitte, Goldman Sachs, and Linchris Capital Partners.
Excel Case Conference during COVID-19
Despite the limitations of COVID-19, BUFMC was still able to hold a successful case conference this past fall semester. On the platform Remo, we created a simulated virtual conference room. Students were able to collaborate and compete for prizes by creating modules to solve real world cases. Our conference ended with keynote speakers and panels with industry professionals, such as Boston Consulting Group, Deloitte, Bank of Montreal, and TJX Companies.
Wall Street Prep Workshop
This intensive seminar is led by former investment bankers with applied expertise in corporate valuation modeling methodologies and provides a great opportunity for students to prepare for technical finance interviews. The topic areas that will be covered include but are not limited to Discounted Cash Flow Modeling, Mergers and Acquisitions Analysis, and Leveraged Buyout Modeling. This event has historically proven to be extremely beneficial for all students pursuing positions in investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, portfolio management, business development, capital markets, and equity & credit research.
Guest Speaker Meetings
Students at BUFMC have the chance to hear from industry professionals at our guest speaker events.These events are great for networking and are also wonderful learning opportunities for students with questions about various fields in the industry. Some of these fields include investment banking, private equity, real estate, and investment management. Our past guest speakers include professionals who have worked at Citibank, Barclays, Wellington Management, William Blair & Company, and more.
