John Devoy is a Finance professor at Boston University. He teaches an introductory finance course and the finance component of SMG's Cross Functional CORE program. Before moving to a career in higher education, John was a Managing Director at The Baupost Group - specializing in the analysis and trading of distressed debt and mortgage-backed securities.
John received his BA in Biology from Harvard in 1993, and his MBA from Boston College in 1994.
John Affleck leads CoStar Portfolio Strategy’s European research and advises clients on their global strategy. A skilled quantitative analyst, Mr. Affleck has developed data sets and forecasting models for commercial real estate markets in North America, Europe, and Asia. Mr. Affleck regularly produces custom analyses of CoStar data to answer specific research questions and develop strategies for investing across U.S. and global property markets. He has authored several white papers, including “Cap Rates vs. Spreads” and “Real Estate in the Lost Decade,” “Do Interest Rates Matter?”, and has been cited in the Wall Street Journal, IREI, and Bloomberg news reports.
Prior to joining CoStar Group in 2007, Mr. Affleck worked at Cornerstone Research, where he provided economics and finance analyses for litigation and regulatory proceedings. He holds an M.A. in International Economics from Boston University and a B.A in English Literature from Oral Roberts University.
Rick Flynn is a Managing Director and the Global Head of Fixed Income Risk and Quantitative Analysis at the world's largest asset management firm, BlackRock, Inc. Mr. Flynn's service with the firm dates back to 2005, including his years with Barclays Global Investors (BGI), which merged with BlackRock in 2009. Prior to joining BGI in November 2005, he spent 4 years at London-based hedge fund Horizon Asset Limited focused on convertible bond arbitrage research and equity stat. arbitrage trading. Previous experience includes setting up proprietary trading groups and managing risk arbitrage strategies at both Sanwa International PLC and Sumitomo Finance International PLC. Mr. Flynn began his career by spending 9 years with Salomon Brothers Proprietary Fixed Income groups variously in London, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and New York.
Mr. Flynn holds a Masters in Finance from London Business School, a BSc in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and is a CFA Charterholder.
Morgan Schapiro is the Senior Business Development Analyst at Valeant Pharmaceuticals where he works with senior leadership to value, acquire and integrate companies into Valeant’s Portfolio. Prior to Valeant he worked at Thomson Reuters on their Eikon data and trading platform.
Mr. Schapiro graduated from the School of Management at Boston University with a dual concentration in Finance and Operations & Technology management. He received his MSc from Imperial College London in Economics and Strategy for Business.
Antony Khalilov is a Portfolio Manager Associate at U.S. Trust, Bank of America. He provides senior portfolio managers with investment and client relationship support.
He graduated from the School of Management at Boston University with a dual concentration in Finance and Accounting. He has a passion for investments and is currently pursuing his CFA charter.
Justin Mann is the Co-Founder of a Boston-based tech startup called BeaconsInSpace. The company provides a platform for wireless indoor positioning systems. Justin oversees the business development aspects of the firm.
He graduated from the School of Management at Boston University with a concentration in Finance.
